BETWEEN is a co-production by Theater ZERO in Korea and AOYAMA Theatre in Tokyo,wich premiered on November 2004 at the Korea/Japan Dance Festival in Seoul.
BETWEEN is a study on the process of narrowing gaps in human relationships.
Kyung-eun Lee's most renowned work, "With MOMO," received the Golden Award at the 4th Korean Choreographers' Festival in 2001, and garnered favorable reviews at Bagnolet Seoul Choreography Competition, which led her to participation in choreography workshop by Susan Buirge and Bernardo Montet of Montpellier Dance Festival in France 2002. She was also chosen as one of the three choreographers of the world from the 2nd Grand Atelier Chorégraphes-Compositeurs at the Royaumont Foundation and received a chance to work with a composer, Evis Sammoutis. Since then, she has been actively creating her own works based in Seoul. She was named "the most promising next generation choreographer" by Dong-A Ilbo, a major daily newspaper in Korea. Also, "Off Destiny", one of her major works, was staged at the 8th International Solo-Tanz-Theater Festival held in Stuttgart, Germany, where she received 1st place in the Choreography Prize; she then toured 5 major cities throughout Germany.
Ms. Lee was awarded the Best Choreographer at the 2003 Dance Festival for the Critics' Choice of Young Artists in Korea. She performed at the Dance Biennalle Tokyo; Korea Performance Now in Tokyo; Osaka Dance; MoDaFe in Seoul; SIDance, Kaay Fecc Festival in Dakar, Senegal, and Association of Performing Arts Presenters in New York.
