«DRUGIE TANTSY» Theatre from Dniepropetrovsk
performs in Kiev and Odessa

The theatre “Drugie Tantsy” from Dniepropetrovsk, led by Marina Lymar, visited the Ukrainian capital Kiev and the biggest Ukrainian port Odessa with their last year premiere ‘Nothing Personal’.
Actually “Drugie Tantsy” is, first of all, a professional school where children of very different age groups from the little ones to teenagers study contemporary dance and are introduced to the secrets of the аrt of improvisation and composition of dance. For future professionals the school curriculum includes lessons on the basics of classical dance, specialized physical training, even vocals lessons. The school graduates live to their teachers’ expectations. This is why the school is a renowned leader of a systematic approach to studying contemporary dance in Ukraine. The school pedagogues together with their students create their own spectacles which are quite mature in ideas and performing techniques. Many of those spectacles participated in international contemporary dance festivals for “adults”.
“Nothing Personal” is one of them. The spectacle was staged by Marina Lymar, who is a choreographer, a pedagogue and a successful director of “Drugie Tantsy”.
Despite its name, the spectacle promises to turn out to be very personal for both actors, and viewers. The choreographer doesn’t tell us any simple or demonstrative stories, but rather suggests that the spectators together with the dancers try to find their own answers to the questions, the main of which could be formulated like this: «Where does childhood go?».
The spectacle is about the personal search of purity, naturalness and spontaneity. Although for adults such search often turns to be a long and complicated labyrinth, a maze, there’s hope that young performers will get to where they’re heading much sooner.
